Viva La Espana! Vintage Travel Posters of Spain

Hello lovely readers, I hope you had a marvelous weekend 🙂 My weekend was busy because I was running around getting prepared for my next big adventure on Tuesday to…SPAIN!

I cannot wait as Spain has always been a dream place that I would love to visit and now I get the chance tomorrow! Now I won’t get to see ALL of Spain, in fact I will only get to see 2 places while I’m there as I’m going for my Lindy Hop Teachers wedding (Yay Luis & Natalia!). However, 2 places is better than zero places in my mind, so Barcelona and seaside village of Platja d’Aro is our destinations (this trip).

I plan on taking tons of pictures while there to share with you, but in the mean time I thought it would be fun to share some Vintage Travel Posters of Spain to help you get excited along with me, AND we can all agree that vintage travel posters are just super cool to look at.

First up the iconic image of the Spanish Flamenco Dancer. I just adore her dress in this 1955 poster.

I’m a sucker for a wonderful 1940s advertising poster and this one does NOT disappoint. The wedges, her trousers and sweater are so Katharine Hepburn and I can’t get enough!

On a side note I purchased the most perfect skirt to wear to the wedding from Damzels in Toronto. It’s a Pinup Girl Clothing-Pinup Couture piece and it’s their Matador Panel Skirt. Isn’t it amazing??!!

So my friends, have you ever been to Spain? What was your favorite part, place? food? Do tell!

  1. These are the kind of travel posters I frame and hang on my walls. I love them all! Odd coincidence that I posted a flamenco pic yesterday; I must have been sensing your impending trip to Spain LOL. You are going to have so much fun! Sip some sangria for me.

    • I know! I’m hoping maybe I will see something like this in Spain in one of the Antique markets to take home and do just that. Thank you, I will 100% sip some sangria for you 🙂

  2. I LOVE these posters!

While you are sipping the wine (every luncha nd dinner), don’t forget the cheese. Spaniards know how to make cheese! And the ham! And the…oh heck, everything.

Not sure if this link will work…While not about Barcelona, this article I wrote a few years ago about a different region of Spain will give you a sense of what you’re in for: http://wp.me/s1Sbix-spain

    • Oh this article was great! Now I’m super excited for my trip. Thanks for sharing that Ann 🙂 and I had no idea about the cheese so now I’m going to go crazy! Goody goody 🙂 thanks again!

  3. There’s something special about travel poster from the 1930’s and 1940’s. They are so engaging with there rich colours and distinctive bold shapes. These Spanish posters are lovely, check out the Italian ones especially the ones with the vespa motorcyles in, gorgeous. Kind regards Stuart

  4. These images are seriously wonderful! There was such artistry, attention to detail and skill put into travel posters of yore. One rarely encounters that in advertising today, perhaps because so many ads feature photos (which can be gorgeous, too, but they’re not quite the same thing of course).

I hope you have an amazing time in Spain, dear gal!

    • Your so right about the advertising just not being the same. Still beautiful today but just not the same 🙂 Spain was fantastic! Just need to do a blog post and you can read all about it.
